This week marks National Women in Construction Week, recognising the women helping shape our industry.Being a male dominated industry, construction hasn’t always been the most welcoming place for women, and in some parts of the industry that is still changing.
Only 14% of the UK construction workforce are women and only 1% within the manual workforce on construction sites.
At Neville Special Projects, we’re proud to support a culture where everyone can build their career and feel part of the team.
Ashleigh Allen, Electrician at Neville Special Projects, began her journey as an apprentice and has now been in the role for 13 years.“I enjoy seeing a job through from start to finish… and that two days are never the same.”
When completing her apprenticeship in 2015, Ashleigh was the only female at college and finished six months ahead of the rest of her course.
Stories like Ashleigh’s show how the industry continues to evolve, and why it’s important we keep building inclusive teams across construction.
