Site Carpentry Apprenticeship

Level 2 or 3

We have a fantastic opportunity for an APPRENTICE SITE CARPENTER to join our friendly team based in Luton, working for Neville Special Projects.

 

Reporting into the construction management team, the post holder will support the delivery of site carpentry works across a variety of construction projects, whilst completing a Level 2 or 3 Site Carpenter Apprenticeship.

 

The successful candidate will be motivated, reliable, keen to learn and able to work safely and professionally within a busy workshop and on live construction sites, including environments where enhanced client security requirements may apply. They will be committed to building a long-term career within the construction industry

 

The main duties and responsibilities of the position are to include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Supporting carpentry works across a range of projects and client environments.

  • Learning and applying health and safety and environmental regulations, guidance notes, relevant codes of practice and site-specific requirements.

  • Preparing and installing basic building components and erecting structural carpentry on a building site or in domestic and commercial premises.

  • Learning insulation installation and methods, plaster boarding and boxing, 2nd fix carpentry, cabinetry fitting.

  • Understanding and applying the principles of risk assessments and method statements, including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).

  • Working at height safely, including the correct use of platforms, steps, ladders and scaffolds.

  • Identifying and applying safe use, storage and maintenance of hand tools, power tools and other equipment.

  • Completing relevant paperwork accurately and on time, including job sheets and site documentation as required.

  • Attending college as part of the apprenticeship programme and completing all coursework, assignments and assessments within required timescales.

  • Supporting continuous improvement through learning, feedback and development throughout the apprenticeship.

 

The following skills and experiences are required:
 

  • GCSE English (Grade 4 or above).

  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4 or above).

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Organisational skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills.

  • Basic IT skills.

  • A professional and reliable attitude.

  • Good presentation and timekeeping.

Due to the nature of our clients and the environments in which we operate, the successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of Right to Work in the UK and may be required to successfully complete a DBS check and/or additional client-led security clearances (which may include, but are not limited to BPSS, site-based vetting, or other security screening). Please note these requirements may be introduced at any point in time depending on project, site and client requirements.

Location: Luton
Salary: National Apprenticeship Wage (in line with Government requirements).
 

Standard hours of work are 7.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

 

Training Course: Level 2 or 3 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship.
 

College Attendance: Barnfield College, Barnfield Avenue, Luton, LU2 7BF or an alternative college/university dependent on student availability.
 

Start Date: September 2026
 

Duration: 2 years
 

Work Base: Neville Special Projects, 311 Marsh Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU3 3RZ (plus client sites as required.)

Timescales:

  • Apprenticeship launch date – 13th February 2026.

  • Application closing date – 2nd April 2026.

  • Interview dates – weeks commencing 5th and 11th May 2026. You will be interviewed by members of the relevant departmental team and the HR department.

  • Work shadow days – week commencing 25th May 2026.

  • Conditional offers made – week commencing 8th June 2026.

  • Final confirmations made following either A Level results day 13th August 2026 or GCSE results day 20th August 2026.

  • Start date – 7th September 2026.
